Privacy
Hybot stores one thing about you on this site: the audience you picked, held in your own browser under a single key. There is no cookie, no advertising tag and no cross-site tracking. Voice is transcribed by your browser and the audio never reaches us. Clearing your browser storage undoes all of it.
The persona you chose
If you arrived here from the dialog asking who you are, this is the part you wanted. Your answer is written to your browser’s own local storage under the key hybot.persona.v1, and that single entry is the entire record. It holds five things: the audience you picked, how strongly the dialog concluded it, when you answered, whether you dismissed the dialog rather than finishing it, and a version number so the browser can discard the entry outright if the format ever changes. There is no identifier for you and no history of what you read. The timestamp is there so the entry can expire by itself after 180 days, which it does whether or not you ever come back.
It is deliberately not a cookie. A cookie would be attached to every request you make and would therefore reach our servers whether we wanted it or not. Local storage stays in the browser, so your choice shapes what this site shows you without ever becoming something we hold. Choosing Reset and forget this deletes the key immediately, and so does clearing site data for hybot.app. There is no second copy on our side to ask us about.
The microphone
Voice navigation is off until you turn it on, and the control to turn it on only appears when your browser reports a speech engine of its own. When it is on, your browser does the listening and the transcription through the Web Speech API. What our code receives is a short string of text, which it compares against a fixed list of navigation commands — “go to pricing”, and so on — and then drops.
We do not record audio, we do not transmit audio, and we keep no transcripts. That is a consequence of where the work happens rather than a promise about how carefully we delete things: the audio never leaves your device, so there is no copy of it for us to mishandle. Revoking the microphone permission in your browser ends it entirely.
Enquiries you send us
When you submit a form we receive what you typed: your name, your email address, your organisation if you gave one, the topic you chose and your message. We use it to answer you. We do not sell it, we do not pass it to advertising networks, and we do not add you to a mailing list because you asked a question.
Each submission also stores a salted SHA-256 hash of the IP address it came from, so that one source cannot flood the forms. Because the hash is one-way and the salt is held server-side, it can tell us two submissions came from the same place without telling us — or anyone reading the database later — where that place is.
What this page does not cover
This page is about this website. A Hybot deployment inside a venue is a different system under a separate written agreement, and the venue — not Hyrcan-Tech — decides what its robots record and how long it is kept. If you are a guest somewhere running Hybot and you have a question about the robot in front of you, the venue is the right place to ask.
What is still being settled
Hyrcan-Tech’s registered company details and the named contact for data-protection requests are not published here yet, because they have not been confirmed. An invented registered address on a privacy page would be worse than an absent one. Requests sent through the contact page reach the same people in the meantime, and this page will be updated openly rather than quietly corrected once those details exist.
Frequently asked questions
What exactly is stored when I choose a persona?
- One entry in your browser's local storage, under the key hybot.persona.v1. It holds five things: the audience you picked, how strongly the dialog concluded it, when you answered, whether you dismissed the dialog instead of finishing it, and a version number for the format. The entry expires on its own after 180 days. It is not a cookie, so it never arrives on our servers.
Does using voice send my audio anywhere?
- No. Transcription is done by the speech engine already built into your browser, and only after you switch the feature on. What reaches our code is a short line of text, matched against a list of navigation commands and then discarded. We never receive the audio, so there is nothing for us to retain.
How do I undo it?
- Choose "Reset and forget this" in the dialog that offered you this page, or clear site data for hybot.app in your browser. Either removes the single stored key, and the site then behaves exactly as it would for a visitor who had never been here. Nothing survives on our side to be cleared separately.
Do you use tracking or advertising cookies?
- No. There are no advertising cookies, no third-party tracking pixels and no analytics profile assembled from your visit. This is a deliberate choice rather than an oversight: a site arguing that its robots should be trusted inside a building has no business quietly following its readers around the web.
What do you keep when I send an enquiry?
- What you typed — name, email, organisation if given, topic and message — used to answer you. Alongside it we store a salted SHA-256 hash of your IP address for rate limiting. The raw address is never written, so it cannot be recovered from the database or from a backup.
