Guidance
Guidance robots: leading a guest to a point on the floor
Guidance means sending a robot to a named point on the venue floor plan so that a guest can follow it there. In Hybot this is direct dispatch rather than a queued service task, so it is a building block we integrate for a venue rather than a packaged module sold on its own.
How it works, specifically
Direct dispatch to any named point
POST /api/robots/{id}/go-to-poi sends a specific robot to a specific point of interest, outside the automatic assignment queue.
Workflows can wait for a person
Multi-step workflows support human-confirmation waypoints, so a robot holds at a stage until someone confirms rather than moving on alone.
The robot has a face as well as a tray
The head and body displays run locked-down Android kiosk apps, so the robot can show where it is going on the way there.
Common questions
- Is guidance a packaged product or a building block?
- A building block, and we would rather say so. Hybot ships direct dispatch to a named point plus workflows that pause for a human. A guided walk to a table is assembled from those, not sold as a separate module with claims of its own.
- Can a robot lead a guest across floors?
- Floors are mapped separately, each with its own plan, points of interest and alignment. What a robot can traverse between them depends on the hardware and the building, so it is confirmed per venue during the site survey rather than promised here.
- Does the robot know if the guest is still following?
- Not on its own. That is exactly why workflows support human-confirmation waypoints: a stage can be held until a person confirms, instead of the robot assuming it was followed.
